Fed: Terrorism shadow to hang over parliament
The spectre of terrorism and the deadly bombing in Jakarta are likely to overshadowfederal parliament as MPs and senators return to Canberra this week.
The government has admitted having seen an email from the suspected suicide bomberbehind last week's blast at Jakarta's JW Marriott Hotel, in which he said he wanted tolaunch an attack.
In question time this week, Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER will be grilled on thecontents of the email and whether warnings should have been beefed up earlier.
Labor's new treasury spokesman and frontbench hardman MARK LATHAM will also lock hornsfor the first time with Treasurer PETER COSTELLO, with many tipping a fiery encounter.
And today Australia's new Governor-General MICHAEL JEFFERY will be sworn in, takingover the nation's vice-regal reigns in the wake of PETER HOLLINGWORTH'S resignation earlierthis year.
